Cultivation advice for growing pumpkins
To speed up fruiting and prevent damage from snails, it is best to sow pumpkin seeds in pots at a temperature of 20°C, starting from March or April. Plant the seedlings in the ground after the last frost (around mid-May). Ensure a planting distance of 1 meter, and for trailing varieties, up to 2 meters. Plant the pumpkins in small holes filled with compost to give them a good start.

In addition to plenty of sunlight, pumpkins require soil rich in organic matter. In case of drought, regular and abundant watering at the base of the plant is essential for healthy growth. You can also sow pumpkins directly in the ground in May, but note that the harvest will be later, and the yield may be smaller.

Harvest advice for pumpkins
For longer storage, it is important to harvest pumpkins when they are fully ripe. You can tell when the skin is difficult to pierce with a nail, and the stem is firm and mature. Cut the pumpkin as close to the stem as possible for the best preservation.

Pumpkin seeds need warmth (around 20-22°C) to germinate quickly, usually within 5 days. Be careful not to overwater the seeds, as excess moisture can cause rot in the seedling.
