Fennel
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a plant from the Apiaceae family. It has a taste similar to anise, and its threadlike leaf branches are used as an herb, while the seeds are used as a spice. Bulb fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Azoricum group) is a distinct cultivar of fennel with thickened leaf sheaths that form an above-ground bulb-like structure, known as the fennel bulb, which is used as a vegetable. In leaf fennel, the bulb is absent. The fennel plant can grow to above head height.
