Purslane
Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) is believed to have originated in India, with its spores found over 4000 years ago in Persia. The Egyptians also used it as a medicinal plant. It was widely used by the Greeks and Romans, as well as throughout the Middle Ages. There are two types: the wild variety with a reddish stem, a spreading growth habit, dark green leaves, and the cultivated varieties with an upright growth habit, lighter green or golden-colored leaves, and larger leaves.
