Product description

Tomato Japanese low

This early tomato variety (60-65 days) is compact and bushy, reaching only 50 cm in height. It produces small, round red tomatoes with juicy, sweet flesh. With excellent productivity of 2 kg per plant and good disease resistance, this variety is perfect for pot and hanging cultivation. It’s an ideal choice for gardeners looking for a reliable, early harvest!

Cultivation Tips for Cherry Tomatoes

Tomatoes are highly sensitive to heat and require a lot of organic material, especially potassium (K). To encourage root development, bury a large part of the stem when planting.

Water the plants regularly, but avoid wetting the foliage as tomatoes are prone to mildew. A preventive measure is to spray the plants with nettle purine or horsetail decoction, which helps protect the plant against fungal diseases.

For indeterminate varieties, prune the shoots growing in the leaf axils, while for bushy or determinate varieties, no pruning is needed. Mulching and trellising are the best methods for these types.

In northern regions, light pruning is recommended to prevent the leaves from touching the ground, reducing the risk of fungal growth. Train the plants on two or three stems for optimal growth.

When growing tomatoes in the open ground, prune after the fourth flower cluster in August and leave one leaf after the last flower cluster to enhance sap flow. In a greenhouse, prune around August 15th.

Sowing and Planting

The ideal temperature for sowing tomato seeds is between 20-22°C. Sow from mid-February to late April. First, transplant the seedlings into pots when they have 2-4 leaves, at a temperature of 15-20°C. After April 15th, transplant the seedlings in a greenhouse or outside, in the open ground, with a spacing of 50 x 80 cm. Ensure the last frost has passed before planting outdoors.

Benefits of Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are often more productive, ripen faster, and are less susceptible to diseases than larger varieties. They can be easily grown in pots, and bushy varieties don’t need stakes. These tomatoes are an excellent choice for early harvesting and for gardeners with limited space!
