Product description

Petite Grise d'Alger Zucchini

This early and productive variety of zucchini produces small, light green fruits with fine edges. The eating quality of the fruits is excellent, making this variety a popular choice for both home gardeners and professional growers. Native to Algeria, this zucchini is easy to grow and provides a flavorful harvest.

Growing Advice for Grey Zucchini

Sowing
Start sowing zucchini seeds indoors at a temperature of 20°C in pots, preferably in March or April. This speeds up fruit setting and helps reduce slug damage. After the last frost (around mid-May), transplant the seedlings into the ground. Space the plants 1 meter apart. For trailing varieties, plant them up to 2 meters apart, using small holes filled with compost.

Soil and Watering Requirements
Zucchini needs a sunny spot and soil rich in organic matter. During dry spells, regular and generous watering at the base of the plants is essential. If sowing directly in May, the harvest will be later and yields will be smaller.

Harvesting
Harvest the zucchinis when they are ripe. This is usually when the skin is hard and difficult to puncture with a nail. Cut them as close to the stem as possible. To store them longer, ensure they are fully ripe at harvest.

Zucchini Sowing Tips

Zucchini seeds need warmth to germinate quickly. Maintain a temperature between 20-22°C to help the seeds sprout within about 5 days. Avoid excess moisture, as it can cause seedling rot.
