Lovage is also known as the 'maggi plant' and is used in soups, among other things. This herb is perennial and prefers a damp spot. Lovage can tolerate some shade.

Lovage is a perennial herb. Height up to over 2 metres. Sow from April to June, preferably in a moist spot. Later thin out or transplant at 60x60 cm planting distance.

If you grow Lovage for its spicy leaves then the plant is not suitable as a bee plant. If you let Lovage grow without harvesting it, flowers will shoot into the plant which bees and butterflies find very attractive.
