Ilex meserveae 'heckenstar' is a male holly. It has a fairly compact, dense shape and shiny, prickly blue-green leaves. In spring this male holly flowers with small white-green flowers. This ilex meserveae is very decorative in winter, is flexible with regard to its location, does not like calcareous soil, can stand air pollution and likes to be in the sun or half-shadow. This species is very hardy and especially suitable for impenetrable evergreen hedges and block planting.
