Gillenia trifoliata - Organic perennial

"Gillenia trifoliata is an elegant plant that produces numerous small, white, star-like flowers with a pink calyx in the early summer season. These flowers are on delicate red stems and form an enchanting display in the garden.

This versatile plant has a loose and bushy growth habit and thrives in shady spots, where it can even tolerate the proximity of tree roots. The leaves are composed of three partial leaves, matt dark green during the growing season and transform to a beautiful orange/red colour in autumn, adding an extra layer of beauty to the garden.

Gillenia trifoliata needs some time to form a full clump, but after 4-5 years you can expect a plant with dimensions of about 100 cm in height and a spread of 40-70 cm.

This plant thrives best in lime-poor, humus-rich and well-drained soil. Once well established, it can also withstand drought reasonably well, although it is important to maintain adequate moisture during dry periods. It is advisable to avoid exposure to the scorching midday sun to keep the plant in optimal condition.
