Product description

Belgian Oak wood chips, for better soil and lower weed pressure

Oak, a high-quality Belgian hardwood species, has an extensive range of applications. This wood species belongs to the second durability class worldwide, and is even at the top of the list of native wood species.

Thanks to its durability, oak decays slowly. The degradation period varies between 3 and 6 years, depending on the use application.

By nature, fresh oak exhibits a colour palette ranging from beige-brown to deep red. Under the influence of sunlight, this fades to a shade of grey. This makes oak particularly suitable for extensive green areas, where the grey undertone comes into its own.

In some cases, "rusty" stains may appear on paving, this is due to the tannic acid in the wood. This natural process protects the wood from forest fires, for example. These stains can be removed with diluted oxalic acid. Although post-treatment with bleach is possible, this requires caution to avoid damage to the planting.

We recommend a layer thickness of 7.5 cm to 10 cm for optimal results.
