This perennial, long-leaved variety of spinach sorrel is much less sour than other sorrels, offering a milder alternative. The leaves are typically eaten cooked and are perfect for springtime dishes.

Cultivation advice for Perennial Spinach Sorrel (Patience):

Sow directly into the ground or in a nursery from May to late August. Plant 2-3 seeds in small clumps, spaced 30 cm apart. The plant thrives in cool, humus-rich soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. Young, tender leaves can be harvested in the spring. To encourage the growth of new leaves, trim off the flower stems.
