Sowing
Sow from February to March under cover, and from the last frost until September in the open ground. Sow in a nursery or directly in the field. For nursery sowing, transplant seedlings after about 4 weeks when they have 4-5 leaves, spacing them 30 cm apart. For direct sowing in the field, thin out the plants to 10 cm and then space them 30 cm apart.

Lettuce needs plenty of sunlight and grows best in well-fertilized, fresh soil. Regular watering is essential in dry conditions.

Sow every three weeks from February to September for a continuous harvest of lettuce.

Harvesting
Leaf lettuce can be harvested between 4 to 8 weeks after sowing, depending on the variety. Cut the leaves when they are about 15 cm long, but leave the core intact.
