Product description

Corylus 'red zellernoot is a particularly decorative hazel hybrid (c.maxima x c.avellana) . This purveyor of tasty hazelnuts is a deciduous, often, multi-stemmed shrub with tough pliant twigs and round ovoid double serrated leaves , which appear reddish-brown in spring and then turn bronze-green in summer . The growth habit is quite upright and the hazel also dares to make root shoots. In early spring, the shrub flowers with yellow-green male catkins and small red female catkins, followed in late summer by the tasty small oval hazelnuts. This corylus hybrid is not fussy about soil type, and can also thrive on the coast .
