Product description

Common Leaf Celery – Healthy and Disease-Resistant

Common leaf celery is a variety with slightly thicker leaves and is known for its resistance to leaf diseases. It thrives in the shade and regrows quickly after cutting, making it ideal for a continuous harvest.

Growing Tips for Common Leaf Celery

Common leaf celery, also known as leaf celery, is primarily grown for its leaves. The stems are less fleshy than those of stalk celery, which is grown for its stalks.

Sowing
Sow from February to April in a warm bed (15°-20°C), in pots or seed trays. Lightly cover the seeds with potting soil, as they need light to germinate. Transplant the seedlings into the ground after May 15th, spaced 30 cm apart. You can also sow the seeds directly into the ground after May 15th. Leaf celery prefers a sunny location.

Care and Disease
Leaf celery requires a warm location and soil rich in organic matter and phosphorus.

Keep the soil moist with regular watering, and use mulch to retain moisture in the soil.

Leaf celery can be prone to diseases like septoria. It's important to ensure good air circulation around the plants and water at the base, preferably in the morning to avoid moisture lingering on the leaves.

Harvesting
Leaf celery can be harvested as needed from July onward. It is hardy and will last through the winter, providing leaves early in the spring before it goes to seed.

Health Benefits
Leaf celery is low in calories and rich in fiber. It also contains vitamins such as vitamin K, vitamin C, and vitamin A, as well as minerals like potassium.

Tips and Tricks
Avoid planting leaf celery in the same spot for 3 to 4 years.
Leaf celery pairs well with cauliflower, tomatoes, and leeks.
