Carrot Mix – Healthy and Colorful Varieties

This carrot mix contains a selection of four different carrot varieties in various colors: yellow, white, violet, and orange. They share a similar growth pattern and are ideal for creating a colorful and diverse harvest in your garden.

Growing Tips for the Carrot Mix
Sowing
Sow from March to July in rows with a distance of 30 cm between the rows. Cover the seeds with about 1 cm of soil. Thin the seedlings to 5 cm when they have 3-4 leaves.

Choose well-drained soil rich in organic material. Carrots grow best in light, sandy soil with a sunny location.

Harvesting
Harvest the carrots before the first heavy frost. Carrots for storage are harvested 5 to 6 months after sowing. Cut the leaves just above the root. Let the roots dry for a day on the ground and then store them in a cool, dry cellar or storage area, unwashed.

Care and Disease
Regularly remove flowering stems to direct energy toward leaf growth.
Mulching helps retain soil moisture and suppress weed growth.

Carrots are rich in vitamin A, antioxidants, fiber, and potassium while being low in calories. They are an excellent choice for a healthy diet, especially when eaten raw or lightly cooked.

Tips and Varieties

• Early and Summer Cultivation: These carrots can be sown in early spring and are typically ready to harvest within 60 to 80 days. They have a tender texture and a sweet flavor and are usually smaller than storage carrots. Early carrots are better suited for early sowing (from February) under cloches and mature a little faster than summer varieties.

• Storage Carrots: These carrots are sown in summer and harvested 5 to 6 months later. They are resistant to cold and can be stored for extended periods. They have firmer flesh and a milder flavor than early varieties and are often larger and thicker.
