Growing Tips for Carrot Red Heart 2 from Colmar

Sowing Sow early carrots from February under cover (tunnel, cold frame). Summer and storage carrots can be sown directly in open ground from May to July. Sow in rows with a spacing of 30 cm between them. Cover the seeds with about 1 cm of well-pressed soil and keep the soil moist until germination.

When the plants have 3-4 leaves, thin them out to 5 cm apart. After another two weeks, thin again to 7-10 cm, depending on the variety.

Maintenance Choose well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Carrots prefer light, sandy soil and a sunny position.
