This relatively late, running pumpkin variety produces cylindrical fruits with smooth, light green skin that turns yellow-brown as they ripen. The flesh is firm and soft, with a rich yellow-orange color and a musky flavor. Of excellent quality, this pumpkin is ideal for making dishes such as gratins, purées, soups, soufflés, and jams. It is perfect for both raw and cooked use.

Growing Tips for Pumpkins

Start seeds indoors in pots at a temperature of about 20°C, beginning in March or April, to speed up fruiting and minimize slug damage. After the last frost, around mid-May, transplant seedlings into the ground. Space the plants 1 meter apart, and up to 2 meters for creeping varieties. Prepare small holes filled with compost for planting.

Pumpkins require not only sunlight but also soil rich in organic material. During dry periods, they need regular and abundant watering. Although you can sow directly in the ground in May, the harvest will be later, and the yield will be smaller.

Harvesting Advice for Pumpkins

For longer storage, it is recommended to harvest pumpkins when they are fully ripe. This occurs when it is difficult to puncture the skin with a fingernail and when the stem has hardened. Cut the pumpkin as close as possible to the stem.
