Broad Bean Ratio 

Early, vigorous, and highly productive variety producing numerous long, plump, and flavorful pods. Ideal for fresh consumption or freezing.

Growing Tips

Sow directly in place from February to April for a spring harvest, or in October-November for an autumn crop. Plant 2-3 seeds per hole, spacing rows 45 cm apart and sowing at a depth of 3 cm.

Maintain 15 cm spacing between plants in the row. Hill up soil around the stems when they reach 15 cm in height. Harvest from June to August. Prefers cool, nutrient-rich soil.

For autumn sowing, protect plants from frost by covering the soil with leaves or using a cloche.

Helpful Tips

To promote pod formation and prevent aphids, pinch off the tops of the plants above the 5th or 6th flower cluster.

Cooking Tips

The best bean dishes are made using young, well-formed beans, harvested when the pods are still green and slightly fuzzy inside.
